History
The current site that today makes up the campus of Grandview Medical Center is the culmination of over 48 years of health care facility planning in Marion County, Tennessee. And for the tens of thousands who live in our service area, Grandview truly is quality health care, close to home.
Today’s Grandview Medical Center is the result of a 1998 merger of the South Pittsburg (Tenn.) Municipal Hospital, founded in 1959 by four local physicians, and the Whitwell Medical Center hospital in Whitwell, Tenn. Seeing the need for a more centralized hospital that offered more comprehensive medical services and a better business model, the current Grandview Medical Center was built atop a green Tennessee hill overlook at the intersection of Tennessee Highway 28 and Interstate 24, easily making it one of the most accessible hospitals in the area. Standing in front of the main lobby entrance, one has a panorama of the beautiful mountains of the lower Sequatchie Valley. It truly is a “grand view”, perfect for nurturing body and mind.
In 2001, an 18-bed psychiatric in-patient hospital, was constructed on the Grandview Medical Center campus and began offering a much-needed service for residents of the Sequatchie Valley. In addition, Grandview operates North Valley Medical Clinic, a convenient care medical clinic in t Dunlap, Tenn., in neighboring Sequatchie County; and “the M”, Monteagle Multispecialty Clinic, in Monteagle, Tenn.
While Grandview’s facilities are located in a beautiful part of the country and are among the cleanest you’ll find anywhere, it’s not just the building we’re proud of. It’s our physicians and the hundreds of health care professionals both in and outside of our hospital that make us who and what we are. Our staff are your family, your friends, and your neighbors. The health of those from the many diverse communities in our service area is and always will be our top priority.
Although currently encompassing over 100,000 square feet and featuring updated equipment and engineering, Grandview Medical Center was planned and built with future growth and expansion in mind. Always with a focus on expanding and improving patient care and services, Grandview Medical Center is well positioned to accommodate as our service area changes and evolves.
