Malvinder S. Makhni, M.D. Cardiology
Prior to arriving in Tennessee, board certified cardiologist Dr. Malvinder S. Makhni practiced for over 24 years in Port St. Lucie, Fla., where he was on staff at Port St. Lucie Medical Center as Chief of Department of Medicine.  He was also on staff at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center as the Director of Cardiac Catherization Laboratory,  and  part owner of Treasure Coast Diagnostics. 
 
He and his wife have owned Makhni Cardiology and Medical Associates since 1986. 
 
He earned his medical degree in 1973, practicing in hospitals in India, Scotland and England before relocating and practicing in the United States since 1977.



Parveen Makhni, M.D. Internal Medicine
Dr. Makhni, board certified in internal medicine, opened her practice recently in the Grandview Medical Office Building.  As an internal medicine specialist, she focuses on the early diagnosis and treatment of complex health problems and illnesses that occur simultaneously in adults.  She is qualified to treat a variety of medical conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, osteoporosis, women’s health issues, and many more. 
 
Before opening her practice here, Dr. Makhni was on staff at Port St. Lucie Medical Center in Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce, Fla., for over 24 years.  In Port St. Lucie, she served on the hospital’s credentialing and quality assurance committees.



Dr. Sarath Gangaverapu Psychiatry
Dr. Sarath, Medical Director of Mountainview Treatment Center, the adult behavioral health center located on the Grandview campus, has been a psychiatrist for almost 30 years.   After earning his medical degree in his native country of India, he completed his psychiatric residency a the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University. 
 
He has practiced extensively in the Chattanooga region serving as medical director collectively for several psychiatric health facilities.  Most recently, he served in a staff psychiatrist capacity at Moccasin Bend Health Institute in Chattanooga. 
 
Dr. Sarath is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.



Dr. Paul J. Nordness

Grandview welcomes Dr. Paul J. Nordness, Board Certified General Surgeon, to the medical staff. Prior to his arrival at Grandview, Dr. Nordness most recently practiced medicine at Village Surgical Associates in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He also served as co-director of Cape Fear Medical Center Trauma Service beginning in 2005.

A native son of Birmingham, Ala., Dr. Nordness earned his medical degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine prior to completing his residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dr. Nordness said he looks forward to helping the hospital expand its scope of services further in the future. His office is now open and is accepting patients by physician referral.

Brown, Damieon D.P.M

Before coming to the Sequatchie Valley area, Podiatrist Dr. Damieon Brown graduated from medical school in San Francisco before completing his podiatric residency at University Health Services Center in San Antonio, Texas. He also completed a fellowship in reconstructive ankle and foot surgery in Youngstown, Ohio.

Dr. Brown specializes in treating disorders and diseases of the foot and ankle. Surgical care services include reconstructive surgery, flat foot surgery, and neuroma surgery, among many other disorders that affect the foot and ankle.
Dr. Brown will also treat bunions, ingrown toenails, hammer toe, heel pain, complications in the feet due to diabetes, wounds/ulcers and other podiatric ailments.



Collins, Robert MD

Dr. Robert Collins provides orthopedic surgery and care. He treats a full range of orthopedic conditions including problems of the hand, shoulder, elbow, foot, ankle, knee, and hip. His practice includes hand surgery, sports medicine, total joint replacement, arthritis, and fracture repair using surgical and nonsurgical treatment. Collins is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Collins attended Eastern Michigan State University after an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1972. He attended Michigan State University College of Medicine and graduated in 1979.

After completing his residency in orthopedic surgery, he completed a Fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1985 Dr. Collins moved to Nashville where held active staff privileges at Skyline Medical Center, Tennessee Christian Medical Center, TCMC Portland and Hendersonville Medical Center. He served as Chief of Staff at Hendersonville Medical Center and on the executive committees and as chairman of the Department of Surgery of Skyline Medical Center and Tennessee Christian Medical Center. Since 2004, he has been in private practice and on the active staff at Hillside Hospital in Pulaski, Tenn. He also served as Chief of Staff while at Hillside Hospital.



Kim, Kyong-Chol "Casey"

Dr. Casey Kim arrived to Grandview from Walla Walla General Hospital in Walla Walla, Washington, where he served as GI Lab Director. Dr. Kim completed his residency at State University of New York at Brooklyn. As a board certified Internal Medicine specialist, Dr. Kim works to help diagnose and treat chronic illnesses and provide care when several different illnesses may occur simultaneously.

He has received numerous honors and awards in his field and is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. In addition to his clinical medical background, Dr. Kim also practices acupuncture to help provide relief of pain and some types of symptoms and an alternative to drugs and other invasive treatments.



Ware, Vonda M.D.

Dr. Vonda Ware is board certified in gynecology and served the health care needs of women throughout the Sequatchie Valley. Ware received her undergraduate degree from Spelman College in Atlanta before earning her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 1996.

She completed her residency in the Department of Gynecology/Obstetrics at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. She most recently worked at Emory Eastside Medical Center and Gwinnett Medical Center, both in the metro Atlanta area. She continues to serve on the faculty of Emory School of Medicine as an assistant clinical professor. Dr. Ware understands the unique and special health care needs of women of all ages and treats them with compassion and dignity.
