Dr. Brenda Ross Joins Whitwell Medical Plaza Family Practice Group
March 23, 2012Dr. Brenda Ross says she has “come home” to practice family medicine in an area that is best suited for her practice philosophy of relationship building with patients and community.
Dr. Ross recently joined the Whitwell Medical Plaza family practice group, which includes fellow providers Dr. Jung Park, nurse practitioner Miranda Noble, and their caring nursing and administrative staff, after serving as an emergency medical provider for most of her career.
“I’m a the stage in my careers where my idea of family practice mirrors that of Dr. Park and Ms. Noble in that I want to establish and build those important relationships with patients and their families,” Ross said. “A physician can only truly do that in the family practice setting. I’m happy to be in this area, which reminds me of my own rural roots and has entrusted me with helping provide medical care.”
Dr. Ross received her undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from Union University in Jackson, Tenn., before earning her medical degree from the University Of Tennessee College Of Medicine in Memphis in 1992. She completed her residency at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga before practicing emergency medicine for the next 14 years in several locations, including South Pittsburg Hospital and Grandview Medical Center. Ross said she worked the first ER physician shift the day Grandview first opened its doors to patients in 1998.
Growing up on a farm herself, Ross said she knows very well how good life can be for those who live in a rural area, but she also knows the unique challenges, especially from a medical standpoint.
“I’m here to not only help with patients’ current medical problems, but to work with them on helping prevent medical issues in the future so they will hopefully have additional time and resources to live life to the fullest,” Ross said.
“We are very happy to have a physician of Dr. Ross’ experience and personality join us,” said Dr. Park, the practice’s president. “We are looking forward to working with her in serving our community.”
Grandview CEO Bruce Baldwin said Ross recently joined the medical staff of the hospital and should be a great asset to patients in the area. “It’s good to have Dr. Ross back in our own healthcare family,” Baldwin said.
Ross said she is an avid sports fan, having been a standout athlete herself, especially in basketball. She and her husband, Wayne Orr, currently enjoy a “very active lifestyle” of skiing, gardening and just about anything that takes them outside. Ross also currently teaches a women’s Sunday school class.
“I’m very fortunate to be working more closely with my fellow professional colleagues here in Whitwell,” Ross said. “But I’m more fortunate to be able to help make a difference in people’s health and lives.”
Dr. Ross is now accepting patients and takes all major forms of insurance. Those needing more information on Dr. Ross or any provider or medical service at Whitwell Medical Plaza may call 423-658-9200.
