Local Cosmetic Surgeon Earns Rare Triple-Board Certification
October 22, 2010
Carey Nease M.D., a double boarded cosmetic surgeon who owns Southern Surgical Arts and practices cosmetic surgery locally at Grandview Medical Center, recently received his third board certification.
Dr. Nease received his letter from the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery last week notifying him that he had successfully completed his board exam in Facial Plastic Surgery. This makes Dr. Nease one of the few triple-boarded cosmetic surgeons in the nation.
To qualify to sit for the Facial Plastic Surgery exam, Dr. Nease was required to complete an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) head and neck surgery residency and have more than two years experience in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery procedures.
“I am honored to be in this group of elite surgeons, and I’m ready to provide the latest training that I have learned to my patients,” said Dr. Nease. Dr. Nease received his original board certification in 2004 by the American Board of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery and his second by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (ABCS) after he completed his cosmetic surgery fellowship training program in 2007.
The American Board of Cosmetic Surgery also recently recognized Dr. Nease by inviting him to be a Board Examiner for the annual exam. And, in the past six months, Dr. Nease has worked with the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery to establish a one year fellowship-training program at Southern Surgical Arts that teaches Cosmetic Surgery to other ABMS-certified general surgeons, head and neck surgeons or plastic surgeons.
Dr. Nease is now offering new patient consultation each Friday from 9am until 4pm in the Multi-Specialty Unit at Grandview Medical Center in Jasper, Tenn. Appointments may be made by calling 423-266-3331. More information may be found on his website, www.southernsurgicalarts.com.
